Monitoring
Reminder: Blood must be taken 5-6 hours after a dose of CystagonTM
and processed immediately for the white cell cystine
measurements to be meaningful.
Diagnosis

Heterozygote Carrier Detection by Polymorphonuclear Leukocytes
Request for White Blood Cell Preparation Kit
Reports of values for mixed leukocytes, polymorphonuclear leukocytes or placenta cystine will be available in two weeks or less from receipt. Cultures may take an additional week depending on the density and vigor of cells received.
Samples from outside the United States
Contact the Cystine Determination Lab by fax to request information (fax: 01-619-471-0427). Response will be by fax if possible. In general, all costs must be prepaid including shipping. A customs letter ruling on the entry of human blood derivatives is available.
